Infine, ecco le produzioni scritte previste per la traccia di letteratura inglese della seconda prova di Maturità 2016:
A)I think today more than ever we live in very material times. We are defined by what we have and what we don’t. What is cool, trendy and fashionable one day is old news the next. All of this cycle is fuelled by money, the endless consumption. People work their whole lives to chase money and then give it over to people who will sell them goods to make them feel better, putting money in their hands. It is an endless cycle. This I think makes it so that even though we are fully connected with each other in this digital age, we are still profoundly shallow and isolated people. Together we are all alone. Bellow talked about this in his novel “Seize the Day” around fifty years ago but I don’t think things have gotten any better since. It is the eternal condition of the capitalistic society. You are what you earn and your only value is what you own. Material possession is everything. Personally, although I can agree that we can’t do without things like cars or phones, we should seek to develop more not our exterior, but our interior. We should try to be better people and cultivate better relationships with each other, only then will we be truly able to say that we are “rich”. Material possession are nothing.
B)Personally, I have had many days where I have woken up thinking it was going to be a bad day, obviously not all of them turned out to be true. It is true that one must not let these feelings condition him throughout the day or they might end up being self-fulfilling prophecies. I do remember one time though in which I had to study for an important maths test at school. Maths was never my strong suit, I am not very much for numbers, but it was important that I study for this particular test and get a good grade, or my overall score might suffer from it. Anyway, I ended up trying to pull an all-nighter to study, but ended up falling asleep on my books! When I woke up, it was already morning. At this point I knew the day was not going to go well. I had just the time to wash and get dressed before having to run out to catch the bus. Due to the fact I had overslept I had missed it and had to wait for the next one. I knew I was going to be in big trouble when I got to school. However, all was not lost as when I actually got to school I found a big crowd in front of it. Someone had entered in the night and flooded the school by turning all the taps in the toilet on. I was saved. After that what could’ve been a very bad day for me turned into a great day. Me and my friends decided to go to the beach, as school was then closed for the day. We had a very good time and I actually had the perfect day. Also I had more time to study properly and eventually aced the test.
